Vita

Daniel Z. Kadar is Research Professor of Pragmatics and Director of Research Group at the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has also been Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Huddersfield, UK. He is author/editor of more than 20 books, published with academic presses of world-leading standings such as Cambridge University Press. He has also written a large number of research papers, published in high-impact academic journals such as Journal of Pragmatics, Journal of Politeness Research, and Multilingua. His recent monographs include Politeness, Impoliteness and Ritual: Maintaining the Moral Order in Interpersonal Interaction (Cambridge University Press, 2017), Understanding Politeness (with Michael Haugh, Cambridge University Press, 2013), and In-group Ritual and Communication: Ritual Interaction in Groups (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013). He co-edited the Palgrave Handbook of Linguistic Politeness (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) with Jonathan Culpeper and Michael Haugh, and currently he co-edits the Cambridge Handbook of Sociopragmatics with Michael Haugh and Marina Terkourafi.
