Vita

Emilia Di Martino is Full Professor of Lingua e Traduzione Inglese at University of Naples Suor Orsola Benincasa, Italy. She has a variety of research interests, among others: language and identity, language and power, language and class, and queer studies. She is the author of Celebrity Accents and Public Identity Construction: Analyzing Geordie Stylizations (Routledge 2019) and Indexing ‘Chav’ on Social Media: Transmodal Performances of Working Class Subcultures (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022). She co-edited Specialized Discourses and Their Readerships (The M.A.K. Halliday Library Functional Linguistics Series, Springer 2019) and Introduction: Linguistic and Discourse Issues in Contemporary Scientific Communication. Aspects of Communicating Science to a Variety of Audiences (Journal of Pragmatics 139-1) with David Banks and Transgender and Language (International Journal of the Sociology of Language, 256) with Luise von Flotow.
