Vita

Olga Yashenkova, PhD, is currently Associate Professor of the English Philology and Intercultural Communication Department, Institute of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and has taught English as a Foreign Language at BA, MA, and PhD levels in a wide range of contexts, including General English, Business English, English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes, and English language theory. She has extensive experience in teaching linguistics, communication theory, business communication and American/British Studies through language. Olga’s primary research interests lie in the areas of communicative linguistics, business linguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics, speech act theory, and intercultural communication. She also has interests in blended learning, alternative assessment, materials development, and syllabus design. She has presented a large number of national and international conference papers, and has also conducted teacher-training workshops on a variety of topics. She has (co)authored a few books and numerous journal articles. Her recent publications include works on communication theory, workplace discourse, linguo-pragmatics of communication and social interaction on the job, language assessment and evaluation.
