Dacia Dressen-Hammouda is Associate Professor of ESP at Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Since 2002, she has taught in its Applied Foreign Languages program, after completing her PhD in Linguistics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2002. During her time in Ann Arbor, she taught at the Writing Center (English Composition Board). She has designed and directed the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Information Design & Multilingual Technical Documentation at Université Clermont Auvergne. In addition to writing courses, over the years she has taught a variety of ESP courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including English for Science, Law, and Agribusiness, and has taught extensively in Technical Communication and Information Design: technical writing, information design, indexing, technical editing, user studies, applied research methods, intercultural communication, minimalism, multimedia learning, instructional videos, and project management. Her current research interests include L1 & L2 writing research, indexicality, genre theory, intercultural rhetoric, and the discoursal construction of expertise in novice and non-native writers in the disciplines and the professions.
